Broward Health has named Alice Taylor as Chief Executive Officer of Broward Health North and Sandra J. Todd-Atkinson, BSN, MBA, EdD, NEA-BC as Chief Executive Officer of Broward Health Medical Center. They will both report to Broward Health system’s CEO. 
 
“We are very pleased to be welcoming Alice and Sandra as they take on their new roles,” said Beverly Capasso, interim president and CEO of Broward Health. “With their level of experience and leadership skills, we are confident they will help us continue to improve the quality of care provided to our patients while lowering our dependence on taxpayer dollars.”  
 
As CEO of Broward Health North, Taylor will direct the overall administration of the medical center to assure quality patient care and service in collaboration with the executive management team, while adhering to the ethics program, policies and procedures for Broward Health.
 
She began her career as a staff nurse at Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1977. In 1981, she transitioned to being manager of the emergency department at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Since then she has continued in leadership positions. She served as the CEO of Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and chief operating officer of Broward Health Medical Center and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital.
 
For the last five years, Taylor has served as CEO at Broward Health Imperial Point. Under her leadership the hospital received the prestigious “Pathway to Excellence” designation for nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and she was honored as “Business Woman of the Year” by the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce in 2014.
 
She is active in the community and is a member of the Fort Lauderdale Executive Association, the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce, The Royal Dames of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale by the Sea Chamber of Commerce, and the Wilton Manors Business Association.
 
Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Holy Family College in Philadelphia; she also has a Master of Science in nursing and an MBA from Widener University in Pennsylvania.
 
Todd-Atkinson, as CEO of Broward Health Medical Center, will direct the overall administration of the medical center according to the guidelines as set out in the ethics program, policies and procedures for Broward Health to assure quality patient care and service in collaboration with the executive management team.
 
She has been with Broward Health system since 2012. She initially came on board as chief nurse officer and COO at Broward Health Imperial Point, and was later promoted to COO of Broward Health Medical Center and Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital in 2016. She began her medical career as a registered nurse for Vidant Health in North Carolina and made the transition to a leadership role in 1988 as vice president and director of nursing for Nash General Hospital of Nash UNC Health Care in North Carolina. Todd-Atkinson worked for Nash UNC in various management positions for 22 years.
 
Her accomplishments include accreditation by The Joint Commission for Stroke and Congestive Heart Failure and the designation “Pathway to Excellence” by the ANCC.  She has also been recognized for her work as the recipient of a 2016 Healthgrades Patient Safety Award and the 2016 Guardian of Excellence Award for Employee Engagement by Press Ganey Associates.
 

Todd-Atkinson is a member of the American Nurses Association, an associate member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a Pathway to Excellence appraiser for the ANCC. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Barton College; an MBA from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina; and a Doctorate of Education in gerontology from North Carolina State University.
