February 6, 2020 – Broward Health brought its high-quality care to Tallahassee last month as part the Florida Legislature’s “Doctor of the Day” program. Broward Health physician Joshua Lenchus, D.O., who practices internal medicine and is the regional medical officer at Broward Health Medical Center, spent January 22nd providing care to members of the state legislature and legislative staff.

“I had the honor of serving as ‘Doctor of the Day’ at the Capitol for the Florida Senate,” said Lenchus. “It was a real privilege to provide the same level of passionate care our patients receive at Broward Health to the hardworking legislative teams,” he said.
The “Doctor of the Day” program dates back to the 1960s when a former lawmaker from Miami collaborated with the Florida Medical Association to bring a physician to Tallahassee to deliver healthcare services during the legislature’s regular session. Walter Sackett was also a medical doctor and believed this was a vital public service.
During Lenchus’ day of service, he assessed and treated patients for common ailments in between observing chamber sessions. His visit was sponsored by state Senator Lauren Book who represents District 32 in South Florida.
“At Broward Health, we are dedicated to providing the highest standards of quality care and exceptional patient experience,” said Andrew Ta, executive vice president and chief medical officer at Broward Health. “Being able to bring our level of treatment to Tallahassee allows us to showcase the expertise and care our physicians provide to our community each day,” he said.
