With 25 years of experience in cardiology, Joel Gellman, M.D., is a cardiologist who serves as medical director of the echocardiography laboratory at Broward Health North and vice chief of staff at Broward Health Imperial Point.
“My interest in cardiology started in childhood, as my father suffered from coronary artery disease,” Dr. Gellman said.
As a student, he was fascinated by the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system and the challenges it presented for both patient care and research.
“My daily motivation lies in the satisfaction of seeing sick patients get better and return to a normal life,” Dr. Gellman said.
Dr. Gellman earned his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed an internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, a fellowship in cardiovascular research at Yale University and a clinical cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
