Dr. Houman Khalili is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist who uses minimally-invasive, transcatheter-based procedures to treat complex cases of coronary and structural heart disease.
“Our patients are quite sick and their lives very stressful, with many of them referred by other cardiac centers for the tertiary care Memorial can provide,” said Dr. Khalili, who joined Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute three years ago. “We’re unique in South Florida, covering all areas of cardiovascular medicine. There’s no case we can’t work on.”
Dr. Khalili is often the interventionalist on multi-disciplinary conferences that focus on complicated valvular cases. He says hearing and sharing expert perspective and experience between clinicians can help with the difficult conversations he has to have with patients and families. “It’s very important that I explain the complicated care we provide so it’s easier to understand and puts their minds at ease,” he said.
