 Brian Bethea, MD
 
Dr. Brian Bethea is a cardiac surgeon and the Regional Medical Director of Cardiovascular Surgery for Tenet Florida Physician Services. Dr. Bethea performed the first left ventricular assist device surgery (LVAD) ever attempted in Palm Beach County on a patient with advanced stage heart failure at Delray Medical Center. The LVAD implantation is an innovative heart treatment option for patients with advanced heart failure.
 
At his Tenet Florida Cardiovascular Care (TFCC) office in Delray Beach, Dr. Bethea specializes in minimally invasive heart valve surgery, the aortic mitral tricuspid procedure, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), complex thoracic surgery, atrial fibrillation surgery and high-risk cardiac surgery. Hao Pan, M.D., is a cardiothoracic surgeon in Delray Beach, FL specializing in complex aortic surgery, aortic root surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and transcatheter valve repair and replacement. James Gardner Jr., DO
 
James Gardner, Jr., D.O., is an invasive non-interventional cardiologist. He is trained in general cardiology as well as using cardiac catheterization and other procedures to diagnose significant ailments and treat underlying conditions inside of the heart. Prior to joining the Jupiter Cardiology Group with interventional cardiologist Dr. Rahul Aggarwal and cardiologist Dr. Craig Vogel, Dr. Gardner, Jr., worked as an internal medicine hospitalist and attending physician at St. Margaret Dyer Hospital – Franciscan Alliance located in Dyer, IN. Nishant Patel, MD
 
Dr. Nishant Patel is a cardiothoracic surgeon with Tenet Florida Cardiovascular Care (TFCC) and provides the full range of cardiac surgery to his patients at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and Delray Medical Center. He excels in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery to treat severe coronary artery disease. Dr. Patel is one of a few cardiac surgeons in the country that offers multiple arterial grafting for CABG. Only 5 percent of patients in the United States receive multiple arterial grafts during CABG. On the other hand, approximately 50 percent of Dr. Patel’s patients receive at least two arterial bypass grafts during CABG surgery, which is thought to improve both survival and durability of the procedure. Dr. Patel also provides state-of-the-art valve repair, valve replacement, atrial fibrillation surgery and aortic aneurysm surgery, as well as minimally invasive surgery and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

Joseph Ricotta, MD, MS, DFSVS, FACS
 
Dr. Joseph Ricotta specializes in vascular surgery and endovascular therapy and is the Regional Medical Director for Vascular Surgery & Endovascular Therapy. Dr. Ricotta recently pioneered a new vascular procedure to prevent harmful plaque from traveling to the brain which reduces a patients’ risk of stroke during carotid artery treatment. He was the first physician on the east coast of Florida to perform the novel trans-carotid artery revascularization (TCAR) procedure, which is a new minimally-invasive treatment for patients with carotid artery blockage that results in shorter procedure times, hospital stay and reduced risk of stroke.
 
In addition, Dr. Ricotta performed the first endovascular robotic procedure in the United States using the Corindus robot at Delray Medical Center earlier this year. Mohamed Osman., MD, FACC
 
While Dr. Mohamed Osman always says that his number one focus is in the prevention of heart disease, he has dedicated his career as an interventional cardiologist to offering patients the highest quality care with minimally invasive solutions for cardiovascular diseases including hypertension, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, heart attacks, valvular heart disease and peripheral arterial disease. Miguel Diaz, MD, FACC, FSCAI
 
Dr. Miguel A. Diaz is a clinical and interventional cardiologist with a Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS) office in Hialeah, FL, specializing in the treatment of adult cardiovascular diseases. His areas of interest include preventive and general cardiology, complex coronary and structural heart disease, and management of peripheral arterial disease. Dr. Diaz performs complex coronary and peripheral arterial interventions, chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention (CTO-PCI), structural heart disease and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), a new treatment option for people with aortic stenosis which could be an alternative to traditional types of open heart surgeries.
 
TAVR is a minimally invasive cardiac treatment where a cardiology team, led by an interventional cardiologist and cardiac surgeon, repairs narrowed heart valves causing aortic stenosis by inserting a new replacement valve inside of the existing aortic valve instead of removing the diseased valve. In 2017, Dr. Diaz and Dr. Brijeshwar Maini, an interventional cardiologist and Regional Medical Director of Transcatheter Therapies, performed the first Mitra Clip NT case in South Florida as a treatment for valvular heart diease. Dr. Jonathan Vafai is a Harvard-trained noninvasive cardiologist. He is quadruple board-certified in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and internal medicine. Dr. Vafai is a member of an elite team of cardiology and interventional cardiology experts at South Florida Heart Institute caring for members of the Delray Beach, Boca Raton and Boynton Beach communities in Palm Beach County.
 
One of Dr. Vafai’s interests is in a growing field called cardio-oncology. Dr. Vafai, along with Dr. Eric Lieberman, Tenet’s Regional Medical Director of Cardiology, help patients diagnosed with cancer manage the possible cardiovascular effects of cancer treatments. He serves as the medical director of the echocardiography laboratory at Delray Medical Center. Dr. Vafai’s areas of interest also include echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and stress testing.
