February 8, 2023 – Century Ambulance Service Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals representing northeast Florida, Taylor County, Columbia County and Broward County were recognized with the Florida Ambulance Association’s (FAA) prestigious Star of Life award at the 2023 Stars of Life medal ceremony held in Tallahassee, Fla. on Feb. 7.
The four recipients representing Century Ambulance EMS professionals include: Quinton Washington of northeast Florida, a Station Captain and Critical Care Paramedic on the Trauma One Critical Care Ground Transport Team; Timothy “Chad” Bush, an EMS professional for the past 30 years in Taylor County; Lischar Batchelor of Columbia County, a former paramedic; and Edward Leyland, a retired Army National Guardsman and Century Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Broward County. These four individuals were nominated by their station supervisors.
The Star of Life medal is given each year by the FAA to recognize that EMS saves, sustains, and touches lives every day and shines a light on all the important work these individuals do who have either resuscitated a patient, improved public health, had a positive impact in the community or showed exceptional care and compassion.
“We are very proud of the dedication and the compassionate patient care that was demonstrated by our EMT’s, paramedics and other EMS practitioners throughout the year,” said Matt Johnson, Vice President-East and General Manager of Century Ambulance. “Over the past year, each member of our EMS team has played a critical role in improving the health and morale of their communities and we are delighted to showcase a few of those who go above and beyond at this award ceremony,” he added.
Following the awards ceremony, the Star of Life recipients attended a training session and closed their day meeting with state legislators.
