April 7, 2022 – Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) announced a new on-site pharmacy opened at the nonprofit’s primary location at 1401 South Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. Through a partnership with Broward Health’s Outpatient Pharmacies Division, the pharmacy will serve both families with children undergoing care at CDTC and the general public.

“Our on-site pharmacy is a necessary convenience and a true blessing for our families,” said Ana Calderon Randazzo, Ph.D., executive director at CDTC. “Many caregivers juggle raising special needs children who require continuing specialty and therapeutic appointments while also struggling with transportation challenges. To have an on-site pharmacy will alleviate the struggles many of our parents face as it streamlines the healthcare process and eliminates unnecessary errands.”

In addition to dispensing prescriptions, the pharmacy will provide educational instruction on medications, patient-care products including over-the-counter medications, first aid supplies and diabetic care items. The pharmacy will also offer an automatic refill program managing prescriptions, and is now among the comprehensive services, including medical and dental care, healthcare coordination, social services and interventional support, that CDTC provides to children and adolescents with chronic illnesses and development disabilities.

“This full-service pharmacy is essential to improving patient access to critical medications.  It allows the CDTC team to better serve our community,” said Dave Lacknauth, executive director of Pharmacy Services and System Integration at Broward Health. “Now, families with special needs children can come in for follow-up appointments and easily fill or refill a prescription all under the same roof.”

Proceeds from the pharmacy will help support the non-profit’s programs and service lines. Most prescription and health insurance plans are accepted in Broward Health Outpatient Pharmacies.
