As CIO and EVP of VITAS Healthcare since 2013, Patrick D. Hale has left his imprint on the 40-year-old hospice provider. He was named one of South Florida’s top large-company chief information officers in 2017 by South Florida Business Journal. In 2018 he accepted a PEX Network Award for VITAS’ mobile solutions to improving patient admissions and increasing clinicians’ speed to the bedside.
“At VITAS, we want to change the world by offering a level of care far beyond what exists anywhere else,” says Hale, who credits his team for their success. “We have productive debates in our management meetings, but at the end of the day we come together with 100 percent commitment.”
Hale, a graduate of Michigan State University, co-chairs the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association’s HIT (Health Information Technology) committee. He is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.
