Cleveland Clinic Florida is pleased to announce that it has been designated a Statutory Teaching Hospital by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
The Statutory Teaching Hospital designation is granted to all hospitals with at least 100 or more full-time resident physicians in seven or more graduate medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the council on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association.

Cleveland Clinic Florida currently has 114 residents and fellows in 11 ACGME accredited programs. ACGME programs include cardiology, colorectal surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, plastic surgery, pulmonary disease, general surgery and anesthesiology.
Statutory Teaching hospitals benefit patients as the academic environment encourages physicians to seek innovative solutions to patients’ medical problems. Attending physicians must stay on top of the latest medical developments in order to teach medical students, residents, student nurses and allied health professionals. Studies show that patients treated at academic medical centers have better outcomes.
