April 9, 2020 – The Cleveland Clinic Florida region is working with the communities we serve as we manage the COVID-19 pandemic together.

Cleveland Clinic is launching a COVID-19 Community Response Campaign in Florida for individuals seeking to provide assistance during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The Cleveland Clinic Florida region has also developed a caregiver hardship program that provides financial support to eligible caregivers who are experiencing temporary financial hardship due to COVID-19. The program is funded by charitable donations from generous individuals in our local communities. Allocations will be distributed based on fund availability. Caregivers from Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Martin Health and Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital locations will all be eligible.

“We are extremely grateful for the partnership Cleveland Clinic shares with the communities we serve,” said Wael Barsoum, M.D., CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “Through the Community Response Campaign, we can best coordinate the community’s generosity, time and resources to provide a meaningful impact for our patients and caregivers in a variety of ways. And the caregiver hardship program will help provide assistance to individuals in a time of need who are deeply involved in taking care of others.”

Full details about donations can be found at give.ccf.org/covid19. Cleveland Clinic’s COVID-19 Response Campaign priorities include:

Contribute needed supplies – Cleveland Clinic Florida currently has sufficient supplies to provide care. However, to be prepared for a potential surge of patients in the coming weeks, Cleveland Clinic is asking the community to help source the following supplies such as N95 masks, face shields, gloves, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes.

Donate to support Cleveland Clinic caregivers – Support the needs of frontline caregivers with items such as gift cards for meals from local restaurants and comfort stations for caregivers to visit during shifts.

Donate to COVID-19 treatment and research – Cleveland Clinic researchers have various projects related to COVID-19 underway, including the use of predictive analytics to develop individualized risk models for patients.

Make masks – Follow instructions on making approved masks to help us support the community. These donated masks will be used to help reinforce cough etiquette in our community. These donated masks will not be used by caregivers as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for clinical care.

Support blood drives – There is an urgent need for blood donations and OneBlood is hosting blood drives throughout the community. Learn more here.
