Cleveland Clinic Florida Lives Up to World-Class Reputation With Patient Safety and Quality Care Achievements

Patients who come to Cleveland Clinic Florida expect the best, relying on the reputation for excellence we’ve built here in Florida for more than 25 years, and for nearly a century since the inception of the Cleveland Clinic organization in Ohio. In order to meet growing demand for broader access to our primary and specialty care and inpatient services, in 2014, we embarked on an ambitious growth plan encompassing expansion of facilities, technology and services.

 

In 2014, Cleveland Clinic Florida made the very important addition of transplant services to further strengthen our wide-ranging capabilities for delivering complex care to patients. This summer, the transplant program marked its first anniversary, completing more than 40 kidney and liver transplants since July 2013, while also obtaining program approval from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We also recently launched a third transplant program upon receiving approval from the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) for adult heart transplants in June 2014.

 

Cleveland Clinic Florida also earned two of the premier quality certifications for excellence in stroke care – the Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers from The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and a Comprehensive Stroke Center designation from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. These achievements demonstrate our commitment to fostering better outcomes for patients by providing the highest quality stroke care backed by the latest scientific research and innovative practices.

 

Cleveland Clinic Florida was recognized by the Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® f for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care, underscoring our hospital’s commitment to assuring that evidence-based interventions are delivered in the right way and at the right time because it’s the right thing to do for our patients.

 

Additionally, for the third year, Cleveland Clinic Florida was recognized with the top patient safety rating from The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to initiating improvements in health care safety, quality and affordability for Americans. Awarded based on analysis of surgical complications, infections, hospital acquired conditions and outcome metrics, receiving the top “A” rating is a testament to the dedication the high quality, compassionate patient care our frontline caregivers provide every day.

 

Furthermore, several specialties received recognition for outstanding quality of care, including:

• American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines Gold Plus Achievement in Heart Failure Care;

• American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines Gold Plus Achievement in Stroke Care for the eighth year in a row; and

• American Heart Association Silver Mission Lifeline.

 

When surveyed by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), our patients consistently scored Cleveland Clinic Florida above the 90th percentile for both overall hospital satisfaction and when asked if they would recommend this hospital to their friends and family.

 

We are proud that our 2014 achievements were recognized in the in U.S. News & World Report rankings. Cleveland Clinic Florida ranked first in Broward County, third in the Miami-Dade/Fort Lauderdale Metro Area and 13th out of 262 hospitals in Florida in 2014.

 

By always keeping our focus on the wellbeing of our patients, Cleveland Clinic Florida’s outstanding team of physicians, caregivers and support personnel continue to transform the lives that we touch. We are proud of what we have achieved this year, and look forward to additional progress and expansion in 2015, beginning with the opening of the Egil and Pauline Braathen Center on our Weston campus. The five-story, 143,000-square-foot building will house the Maroone Cancer Center and the expanded Pauline Braathen Neurological Center.
