Cleveland Clinic Florida has rapidly become Broward’s largest provider of solid organ transplantation since receiving approval from the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) to perform adult liver and kidney transplants in 2013 and adult heart transplants in 2014. The program is also largely responsible for the region’s record-breaking year in solid organ transplantation. South Florida exceeded 700 transplants for the first time in 2015, up 15 percent over 2014, and Cleveland Clinic Florida was responsible for about 83 percent of that growth, according to UNOS data.
The volume of patients receiving transplant services at Cleveland Clinic Florida has swelled in a very short time, with 265 organ transplants since 2013, consisting of 156 kidney transplants, 91 liver transplants and 18 heart transplants.
