Cleveland Clinic in Florida announced the availability of LifeFlight® transportation of adult critical care patients from area hospitals and emergency departments, within a 350-mile radius, to its 24-hour emergency room. Through a partnership with Miami Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic will now offer air transportation via a high-tech fully-equipped helicopter, manned with an air crew that has been trained following Cleveland Clinic adult emergency care protocols to ensure continuity of care.

Upon arriving at Cleveland Clinic’s emergency room, a team of seven board-certified emergency medicine physicians will receive and triage patients, providing immediate acute care in conjunction with its staff of 150 physicians representing 35 medical specialties.

Advantages of LifeFlight air transport over ground transport include a decrease in patient out-of-hospital time and a higher level of critical care en route.
