September 30, 2020 – In an effort to continue providing patients in South Florida with world- class care, Cleveland Clinic Weston has added two new specialists to its Heart and Vascular Team. 
 
John Bibawy, MD, a cardiologist who specializes in electrophysiology and heart rhythm disorders, and Emad Hakemi, MD MSc, an interventional cardiologist with specialty training in structural heart disease, recently joined Cleveland Clinic Weston’s team of doctors.
 
“We are excited to add to the growing number of sub-specialty trained physicians who will provide our patients with compassionate care and innovative treatment options for their heart conditions,” said Rodolfo J. Blandon, MD, MBA, President of Cleveland Clinic Weston. 
 
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Weston, Dr. Bibawy completed a clinical electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY where he focused on arrhythmia diagnoses and treatment. Prior to that, he completed a cardiovascular fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, NY. He also served as an attending physician at The DeBakey Heart and Vascular Institute at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Bibawy earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. He also has a bachelor-of-science degree in psychology with a pre-medical focus from CUNY Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY. 
 
Dr. Hakemi, a specialist in structural heart disease, completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology at Columbia University Medical Center (New York), where he also completed his advanced training in complex coronary artery disease interventions, mechanical cardiac support, and structural heart disease interventions. He also completed his training in internal medicine at John. H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County (Chicago) where he also completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship and served as chief cardiology fellow. Dr. Hakemi obtained his master’s degree in clinical research at Rush University in Chicago, Ill. His procedural focus includes transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve interventions, left atrial appendage closure, paravalvular leak and ASD/PFO transcatheter closure, mechanical cardiac support, and chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary interventions.
