November 12, 2019 – Cleveland Clinic’s Weston hospital has been awarded an “A” for patient safety, a distinction recognizing the hospital’s achievements in providing safe, high-quality patient care. The recognition has been given by Leapfrog Group, a national non-profit organization that is committed to improving healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The organization awards safety grades to U.S. hospitals in the spring and fall of each year.

“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition, which is a testimony to the high quality, compassionate patient care that our medical team provides,” said Rodolfo J. Blandon, MD, MBA, President of Cleveland Clinic Weston. “Our team is committed to ensuring that our quality and safety standards remain high so that each patient has a unique experience each time they come to us.”

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute care hospitals. The Safety Grade assigns A through F grades to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harm to patients.

In addition to this recognition by Leapfrog Group, Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston ranked #1 in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area in U.S. News & World Report’s best hospital ranking for 2019-2020. The Gastroenterology & GI Surgery is ranked 17th in the country and five specialties and nine procedures and conditions were ranked as high performing.
