Dear Community,

As we begin 2021, one of the things at the top of my list is, “Where can I make a positive difference?” With February’s heart month right around the corner, one place where we can all take charge is heart health. Heart disease is still America’s #1 killer of men and women, yet it’s possible to make a positive difference in 7 out of the top 10 risk factors.

Florida Medical Center is committed to heart health for our patients. Each year in February, we celebrate American Heart Month with a focus on ways to improve heart health. We hope you’ll join us by signing up to receive four weeks of tips that will include the risks and prevention of heart disease, easy recipes and exercise videos.

Here’s another way to make a positive difference and possibly save money in the long term – have a health screening. Screenings and check ups that are often covered by insurance can alert you to health conditions that need addressing sooner rather than later. From knowing your numbers for heart health to a mammogram or a colonoscopy, early detection may prevent complications down the road.
Please remember not to delay care for an urgent or emergent healthcare need.  We continue to see patients with outcomes that could have been prevented if they had come in for care sooner.  Our hospital is safe, and we have the proper processes in place to protect you.  We appreciate the opportunity to care for you and your family.
