When it comes to cancer care, Broward Health offers patients a multidisciplinary approach combined with the latest medical advancements in a caring and compassionate environment. Renowned cancer experts, innovative research programs and cutting-edge technologies are available at the Comprehensive Cancer Centers at Broward Health Medical Center and Broward Health North. Services offered include radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, patient navigation, nutritional counseling, survivorship programs and support groups. The centers also offer genetic evaluation, counseling and testing for genetic mutations to determine whether a patient is at an increased risk for cancer.
Our multidisciplinary team represents a complete spectrum of oncology care, working together to create the best outcomes for our community. The team includes renowned oncology specialists and oncology nurses who receive specific training and certifications in oncology care by the Oncology Nursing Society. These nurses are specialized in providing care to oncology patients.
At Broward Health Medical Center, the redesigned Noreen Salah Burpee Adult Infusion Center offers cancer care in a healing, modern environment. The center recently received the silver award from Industrial Designers Society of America. Patient-centered care is offered through an array of support services, including a financial counselor, an oncology dietician and a palliative care team. Palliative Care services are provided by an interdisciplinary team that focuses on relieving the pain, symptoms and stress of a serious illness. Masters-prepared social workers are certified in patient navigation and are specially trained to help patients navigate through the continuum of care by breaking down any psycho-social barriers encountered during the treatment process. A wide array of support groups are offered including the cancer transitions survivorship program, a 4-week workshop designed to help cancer survivors make the transition from active treatment to post-treatment care.
Broward Health Medical Center’s Comprehensive Cancer Center has been recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The QOPI® Certification Program (QCP™) certifies oncology practices that meet nationally recognized standards for cancer care, reaffirming Broward Health’s commitment to offering patients high quality cancer care. The center was also including in South Florida Business Journal’s 2017 list of Top Florida Cancer Centers.

Broward Health offers the most advanced radiation oncology equipment available and the latest technology detection for all types of cancer, including digital mammography for the most accurate breast examinations. Sensory suites, contrast enhanced mammography and Tomosynthesis were launched at the Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center to help in the diagnosis of breast cancer.

Broward Health North was also the first hospital in Broward County to offer the 128 Multi-Slice CT Scanner in Broward County, which detects cancer and other conditions early with unprecedented image quality. Also available at Broward Health North is The CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System, one of only two available in Broward County, which is designed to treat tumors with pinpoint accuracy, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The CyberKnife provides a pain-free, non-invasive alternative to surgery and treatment is typically completed in one to five sessions.
Pediatric Cancer Care
The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Center at the Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health is an integral part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Broward Health Medical Center. Children can receive the most up-to-date treatments close to home while they maintain their family life and other activities. Pediatric hematologists/oncologists serve patients from birth to age 21.
