October 16, 2019 – Cleveland Clinic Florida is pleased to announce the establishment of the ‘Craig M. Zinn Distinguished Chair in Men’s Health’ for Lawrence S. Hakim, MD, Chairman of the Department of Urology and Center Director for Surgical Specialties. The $2 million gift will be used to enhance research, promote collaboration and allow Dr. Hakim to explore new initiatives related to men’s health. The gift was recently recognized at a reception held at Cleveland Clinic’s Weston campus.

“Dr. Hakim is an experienced and talented physician who has dedicated his professional career to improving men’s health,” said Wael Barsoum, MD, CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “His ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive Center for Men’s Health and Wellness that will advance education and promote men’s health and wellness throughout South Florida. We are grateful to Mr. Zinn for partnering with us as we embark on this mission.”

Dr. Hakim, who joined Cleveland Clinic in 2000, and currently serves as the President of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) Foundation, has focused his research and clinical practice on men’s sexual health and wellness, primary and revision prosthetic surgery, Peyronie’s disease, the surgical management of urinary incontinence, benign prostate hyperplasia and male infertility.

“Men’s health encompasses everything from general wellness and nutrition to good cardiac health, urological health, prostate disease, sexual wellness and everything in-between,” said Dr. Hakim. “Mr. Zinn and I share the same vision: that men’s health is an important and under-recognized area of medicine. His gift will allow me to elevate men’s health to the forefront of patients’ minds and improve their quality of life.”

“The Craig Zinn Automotive Group is proud to support the tremendous work being done by Cleveland Clinic Florida,” said Craig Zinn, Founder and CEO of the Craig Zinn Automotive Group. “In society we have good businessmen. I want to be known as a good man in business who takes care of his community.”

The Distinguished Chair is designed to attract, retain and award Cleveland Clinic’s most talented and accomplished physicians and researchers. A Chair is a philanthropic fund that provides discretionary funding to support the patient care, research and education priorities of a chair holder and the Cleveland Clinic.
