Free Event for the Public to Take Place in Little Havana
WHAT:
The Dade County Medical Association (DCMA) will hold its first Annual Health Fair, a free event for the general public, focused on providing essential health services and resources to the Little Havana community. Supported by Commissioner Eileen Higgins of Miami-Dade County, District 5, the fair will feature volunteer physicians, residents, and medical students, who will offer a range of medical services, including preventive screenings, blood pressure monitoring, diabetes education, mental health awareness, and women’s health services. Vaccination services will also be available, courtesy of the Comprehensive Health Care Mobile Unit provided by Dr. Rudolph Moise.

The Health Fair is a year in the making, thanks to the vision of medical student Shantell Steele. The event is designed to address the healthcare needs of the Little Havana community, particularly its underserved populations. Attendees will have access to various medical resources and expert advice, provided at no cost.
Commissioner Eileen Higgins applauded the DCMA’s dedication to public health, stating, “The DCMA’s commitment to making healthcare accessible to all, especially the underserved, is admirable. I’m proud to support this effort and grateful for the physicians, residents, and medical students who have stepped up to make a difference.”
Dr. Patricia Ares-Romero, President of the DCMA, added, “Events like this Health Fair are crucial for bridging healthcare disparities in our community. Our volunteers’ commitment to the Hippocratic Oath and their tireless dedication make these efforts possible. We are proud to serve Miami-Dade County, especially in areas where healthcare access is most needed.”
