November 10, 2022 – The Dade County Medical Association (DCMA) in conjunction with the Dade County Medical Foundation (DCMF) are committed to improving physicians’ well-being. In pursuit of that mission, they have launched the LifeBridge: DCMA Physician Wellness Program. This program is designed to provide coaching for physicians who are experiencing early signs of burnout.

The LifeBridge: DCMA Physician Wellness Program is a service available for all active members of the DCMA to be accessed confidentially. Our answering service is standing by to connect DCMA members with one of our participating councilors. The Foundation provides four free sessions to those DCMA Members that want to take advantage of the program.  This program is mindful of privacy and confidentiality and is available 24/7.

LifeBridge was designed in conjunction with the Florida Board of Medicine to be a pre-clinical program that enables physicians to access coaching when the very early stages of burnout materialize in a manner that will not jeopardize their licensure.

Rafael J. Fernández, MD, President of the DCMA stated, “As a physician, I recognize the responsibilities, anxiety, and stressful moments a doctor can face daily, in emergency rooms, hospitals, and in their medical practice. In addition, the stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic pressures facing physicians are factors that push us to our limits. With that in mind, the DCMA is committed to improving physicians’ well-being in a confidential way. I hope this program contributes to a better quality of life for all of us because while it is always rewarding to take care of others, it’s critically important to take care of ourselves.”

“We would like to thank New York Life for this Community Impact Grant and the Dade County Medical Foundation for their support which has made this program possible. commented Angel Bosch, Managing Director of the DCMA.
