Delray Medical Center has officially opened its new third floor addition, adding 31 new beds and expanding hospital capacity from 372 beds to 403 beds. The new $4 million unit will house the hospitals surgical/orthopedic unit and physical therapy services. With the new unit, the hospitals surgical and orthopedic services will relocate from the first floor to the third floor and the vacated area will be renovated and converted into a medical telemetry unit.
The hospitals administrative team worked with medical staff, nursing personnel, ancillary staff and nursing leaders to design the new unit. Their ideas contributed to the design, color, layout and construction of the third floor addition.
This expansion follows the opening of the hospitals third cardiac catheterization laboratory. The new cath lab replaces the original one that opened with the hospital more than two decades ago. Further enhancing its comprehensive cardiac program, Delray Medical Center also recently added a 64 Slice CT Scanner for faster, clearer results in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease.
