October 11 2021 – Colorectal surgeon, Dr. Hayder Al-Azzawi, hits a major milestone by completing his 1000th robotic surgery case at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Dr. Al-Azzawi performs robotic-assisted colorectal procedures at Good Sam, using the da Vinci XI Surgical System by Intuitive. In addition, Dr. Al-Azzawi performs robotic-assisted colorectal procedures at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

“I am honored to be able to perform these robotic surgeries in our community which most importantly helps the patients I treat to some of the very best care right here in Palm Beach County,” said Dr. Al-Azzawi.  “Because of the efficiency and quality of robotic surgery, it allows patients to recover quicker, with less scaring and better outcomes than ever before.”

The da Vinci allows doctors high imaging views in 3D, which is magnified more than 10 times to what the human eye can see.  The robot also allows the doctors to use instruments giving the surgeon a far greater range of motion with smoother precision and accuracy for the patient.

“We want to congratulate Dr. Al-Azzawi on this fine achievement. It is very rewarding to see robotic technology continue to help our patients get the best surgical care possible and close to home,” said Sheri Montgomery, chief executive officer at Good Samaritan Medical Center. “We continue to deliver some of the best quality care here at Good Samaritan Medical Center and have been doing so for over 100 years.”

Dr. Al-Azzawi performs numerous colorectal surgery procedures robotically with the da Vinci XI Surgical System including:
