January 28, 2020 – Epilepsy Florida announced today that it has developed and released a first-of-its-kind poster for use in schools called Seizure First Aid in the Age of COVID-19. This new resource is available for distribution statewide, in both English and Spanish, and outlines considerations and steps necessary to keep those providing and those receiving help during a seizure safe from the spread of the coronavirus.

“The coronavirus pandemic has brought with it many challenges for students in our epilepsy community,” said Karen Basha-Egozi, president and CEO of Epilepsy Florida. “Making this poster available is going to help transition students with epilepsy back into full-time classroom instruction and enable them to safely remain there.”

Greenwich Biosciences, a US leader in the field of cannabinoid prescription medicines, provided a grant to make publication of the Seizure First Aid in the Age of COVID-19 poster possible.

All Epilepsy Florida offices statewide have copies of the poster available for distribution in schools and the community. Complimentary copies can be obtained by contacting Epilepsy Florida at 1-877-553-7453.

In addition to the poster, seizure first aid training and epilepsy education for teachers, school nurses, and other school personnel is available through Epilepsy Florida.
