More than 80 students from FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and College of Nursing & Health Sciences recently participated in the first Community Classroom session of the Green Family NeighborhoodHELP™ (Health Education Learning Program) community outreach program. Conducted by United HomeCare Services (UHCS) the event was designed to teach the students how to make “house calls,” as they prepare to go out in the community and address medical and social issues 
affecting medically underserved families in the region. UHCS case managers, nurses and other home care professionals staged a mock home visit and conducted a classroom session to guide students on the nuances and techniques to approach and assess patients in their homes.
