Florida International University’s (FIU) Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences announces the launch of Nursing Academia ACTIVATE, a social media effort to raise awareness and champion the APRN Campaign for Consensus initiated by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
Nursing Academia ACTIVATE aims to directly engage nursing deans, directors and faculty to weigh in on the APRN Campaign for Consensus – an NCSBN initiative to assist states in aligning their APRN regulation with the major elements of The Consensus Model for APRN Regulation. Those major elements are:
• State recognition of each of the four described roles (CNS, CNP, CRNA, CNM)
• Title of APRN in one of the four described roles
• Licensure as an RN and as an APRN in one of the four described roles
• Graduate or post graduate education from an accredited program
• Certification at advanced level from an accredited program that is maintained
• Independent practice
• Independent prescribing
Specifically, Nursing Academia ACTIVATE urges nursing deans, directors and faculty across the country to take to Twitter to support and spread the word about the APRN Campaign for Consensus. A dedicated landing page on the College website details the effort and how to get involved, including a “Tools & Tips” section that walks participants through the process of joining Twitter and advocating for the APRN Campaign on Twitter.
