Dr. Sandra Gracia Jones, an Associate Nursing Professor at Florida International University (FIU) College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS), was honored with the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Cares (JANAC) 2009 Article of the Year Award for an article she co-authored on the SENORITAS HIV/AIDS Prevention Project at FIU
The research article titled SENORITAS: An HIV/Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention Project for Latina College Students at a Hispanic-Serving University, appeared in the July/August 2008 issue of JANAC. Jones co-authored the article with fellow CNHS nursing faculty members Dr. Carol Patsdaugher and Dr. Margaret Hamilton, former CNHS nursing professor Mary L. Jorda, and Dr. Robert Malow, professor in the FIU Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work.
