Josie Bacallao, Michael H. Jofe, Shaun M. Davis, Harry R. Duncanson, and Alan J. Reich are the 2005 “Spirit of Healing” award winners, the Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital Foundations announced. The five were recognized for “contributions to the health and well-being of communities in South Florida” at a recent luncheon at the Signature Grand in Davie. All combined accomplishments and excellence within their professions with contributions to the community and a commitment to the Memorial Healthcare System.
Josie Bacallao, of Fort Lauderdale, is president/CEO of Hispanic Unity of Florida and an active community volunteer. She serves as a trustee for Holy Cross Hospital, board member at WorkForce One, and is on the steering committee for the Coordinating Council of Broward.

Michael H. Jofe, M.D., has been affiliated with Memorial Healthcare System since 1989 and currently serves as chief of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery for the Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital.
Shaun M. Davis, CPA, is the owner of S. Davis & Associates, P.A. Davis currently co-chairs the VisionBROWARD project and is a member of the Advisory Council to Florida State University, where he provides counseling to black students who are interested in entering the accounting field.
Harry R. Duncanson is vice president and part owner of Dynacolor Graphics, Inc. in Miami. A past president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Duncanson is a member of its board of directors. He was a South Broward Hospital District commissioner for 16 years, serving as chairman and vice chairman during his tenure, and was appointed by Florida Governors Martinez, Chiles, and Bush.
Alan W. Reich, M.D., began his private practice in orthopedics in 1976 and has been affiliated with Memorial Healthcare System hospitals ever since. Dr. Reich was chief of staff at Memorial Regional Hospital from 2001-2004 and has also served the hospital as vice chief of staff, secretary treasurer, chair of the Department of Orthopedics, and chair of Joint Surgical Chiefs.
