New ACA Marketplace health plans offers new level of flexibility and convenience with direct access to your doctor’s office any time of day or night with $0 copay

December 15, 2021 – Florida Blue, the state’s leading health insurer, has launched several new 2022 health plans including some for individuals and families providing its members with 24/7 access to their own doctor’s office with $0 copay.

Through a collaboration with Sanitas Medical Centers, the Florida Blue HMO myBlue Connected Care plans will allow members to get direct access to their Sanitas care team via video chat, through an app, email or text at any time day or night. The online program also provides patients with guidance on where to seek care, a state-of-the-art symptom checker, virtual bookings and managing virtual and in-person appointments, access to recent medical records and more.

More Personal Virtual Care

While virtual doctors’ appointments rose in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, many health plans only offer virtual “urgent care” visits with doctors who do not already have access to your medical records, medications, past illnesses, and other health care information that can help better care for and treat a patient.

“Even with insurance, many people in our community struggle to get regular, timely medical care due to lack of transportation, concerns about missing work or their inability to afford the out-of-pocket costs. Through our collaboration with Sanitas Medical Centers, we can provide people in our community easy access to their own doctor’s office at the time and place that is most convenient to them and with little to no out-of-pocket costs,” said Florida Blue Market President Penny Shaffer.

The new offering through Florida Blue HMO also provides virtual access to many specialists including mental health counselors, in addition to real-time personalized support from Sanitas nurses and health coaches for individuals with conditions such as diabetes or asthma, who may need extra care to manage their health, or those seeking help achieving their health goals.

In-Person or Virtual Visits on the Patient’s Schedule and Preferred Language

The new myBlue Connected Care plans do not limit members to only online and virtual access to their doctors and care team members. The plans also provide in-person visits to the member’s Sanitas primary care doctor with $0 copay.

Sanitas Medical Centers are well known for their focus on culturally relevant health care, with medical and support staff who are fluent in the preferred languages of the communities they care for, including Spanish and Creole, as well as English. In addition to their 24/7 virtual access, Sanitas offers extended hours during the week and even weekend visits to help meet the needs of patients with nontraditional schedules.

The new myBlue Connected Care health plans are the lowest-priced Silver Blue Cross Blue Shield plan offered by on the 2022 Health Insurance Marketplace in Miami-Dade, Orange, and Osceola counties. With these plans, members gain access to these virtual benefits with Sanitas Medical Centers with no copays, coinsurance or deductible requirements. The plans also come with in-network access to the county’s major hospitals including Baptist Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Kendall Regional Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, South Miami Hospital, University of Miami Hospital and 13 other hospitals in Miami-Dade County.

Sanitas Medical Centers are available exclusively to Florida Blue and Blue Cross Blue Shield members, persons with original Medicare and self-paying patients.
