July 30, 2019 — The Southeast Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association has announced the selection of Jason Forstot, managing partner and wealth advisor at SWAN Wealth Management Group in Boca Raton, as its new board chair.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to continue to support the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association and bring our services and programs to our local communities throughout Southeast Florida,” Forstot said. “The foundation that our board and chapter have created over the years is incredible, and I look forward to the opportunity to build upon that foundation with a focus on taking our chapter to the next level.”
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. As home to more than 560,000 of those individuals, Florida has the second-highest prevalence of the disease in the country.

“I have seen family and friends wrestle with this horrific disease,” Forstot added. “I would never want my hero – my father – or my best friend – my wife – to look at me or my children and not recognize our faces. It’s heartbreaking, and so many families have endured that pain or are going through it right now. I want to be a part of the mission that solves this problem.”
In addition to being the world’s largest funder of Alzheimer’s disease research, the Alzheimer’s Association offers various educational programs and resources for both those living with the disease and their caregivers. This fall, the organization will also host its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in cities around the country to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Audra Afflitto, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Southeast Florida Chapter, said: “We are so pleased to have Jason as our new board chair. With his unique talents and passion for our mission, he is an invaluable asset both to our board and our organization as a whole, and our chapter looks forward to working with him in pursuit of our ultimate goal—a world without Alzheimer’s.”
