And Celebrating the New HCA Florida Healthcare Brand

March 1, 2022  – The U.S. recently faced a tremendous decrease in blood donations thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. HCA Florida Healthcare and OneBlood want to fix that. They are teaming up to create an extensive blood drive that will happen simultaneously in 14 locations throughout South Florida.

“Our 14 hospitals in South Florida were fortunate not to be adversely affected by the drastic drop in blood donations that is happening in other parts of the nation,” said Charles Gressle, President of HCA East Florida Division. “It is important a sustained donor response continues. We’re confident this unique blood drive event will bring our colleagues and the community together to donate blood and further ensure our blood provider, OneBlood, has a ready supply for patients in need of lifesaving transfusions.”

“The pandemic has up-ended the traditional venues for blood drives,” said Susan Forbes, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at OneBlood. “Remote work impacts participation at corporate blood drives, many high schools and colleges have not resumed blood drives, and the lack of large community events limits where we can take the Big Red Bus for blood drives. We are grateful to HCA Florida Healthcare for their partnership and for shinning a spotlight on the ongoing need for blood donations. They know firsthand the vital role blood donors hold.”

HCA Florida Healthcare chose March 3 as the day to host the blood drive because it aligns with the introduction of its new statewide brand. Twelve hospitals in South Florida will officially adopt the HCA Florida Healthcare name. To commemorate this ransformation, they, along with OneBlood, invite you to donate and make a positive impact in your community. Each donor will receive a $20 e-gift card and super hero themed t-shirt, courtesy of OneBlood.
