November 2, 2022 – HCA Florida Healthcare, one of the state’s largest health systems, has named Brian T. Cook president of the HCA Healthcare North Florida Division and its affiliated sites of care from Pensacola to south of Orlando.

Cook is currently president of the HCA Healthcare Far West Division based in Henderson, Nevada.

This will be a homecoming for Cook, who, prior to becoming president of the HCA Healthcare Far West Division five years ago, served as chief executive officer at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville and chief executive officer at HCA Florida Capital Hospital in Tallahassee. He was also associate administrator at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee early in his career.

Cook earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance at Florida State University.

In a related announcement, Nashville-based HCA Healthcare, Inc. has announced the formation of a new hospital group, HCA Healthcare Atlantic Group, to include the company’s HCA Healthcare West Florida, HCA Healthcare East Florida, HCA Healthcare North Florida, HCA Healthcare South Atlantic and HCA Healthcare MidAmerica divisions. The three Florida divisions are part of HCA Florida Healthcare.

Richard Hammett, currently president of the HCA Healthcare North Florida Division, has been promoted to president of the newly formed group. Ricardo Pavon, currently chief financial officer of HCA Healthcare National Group, will take over as chief financial officer of HCA Healthcare Atlantic Group.

“Brian is an exceptional healthcare leader who has led the HCA Healthcare Far West Division with integrity and respect for both patients and colleagues,” Hammett said. “We’re all looking forward to him returning home and contributing his leadership experience to the North Florida Division.”

The announcements are all effective January 1, 2023.
