October 17, 2022 – HCA Florida Northwest Hospital, a 289-bed facility, and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, today announced the addition of vascular and endovascular surgeon, Dr. Kelechi Akuma. In this role, Dr. Akuma will enhance the heart and vascular center at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital.
Akuma is a fellowship-trained vascular and endovascular surgeon specializing in non-operative, endovascular, and open management of aortic aneurysms, carotid disease, peripheral artery disease, hemodialysis access, superficial venous insufficiency and deep venous pathology.
“Dr. Akuma brings a wealth of experience in treating a variety of vascular and endovascular conditions,” said HCA Florida Northwest Hospital CEO Kenneth Jones. “His patient-focused approach supports our commitment to excellence always care, and positive patient experience.”
Akuma completed his general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine at Beth Israel, New York. He went on to complete his vascular surgery fellowship at North Shore-LIJ in New York where he focused on minimally invasive and open surgical treatment of arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases. Akuma holds board certifications in general surgery and vascular surgery from the American College of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgery as well as a fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery. He is also a registered physician in vascular interpretation.
