May 19, 2022 – HCA Florida University Hospital, a 165-bed facility, and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, on May 15, celebrated the six-month anniversary of its official opening.

During its time in operation, the facility has reached a number of milestones, including the birth of the hospital’s first baby, first surgical procedure, and the graduation of the hospital’s first NICU patient.

“We are thrilled to celebrate six months in our new state-of-the-art hospital,” said HCA Florida University Hospital CEO Madeline Nava. “We’re already a Mammography Accredited Facility by the American College of Radiology. We plan to earn our Joint Commission Primary Stroke Certification in the next six months and will continue to develop our diagnostic cardiac program, including becoming a Level III ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) center. Our goal is to continue to deliver the region’s highest quality care while focusing on the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”

Since its opening on November 15, 2021, clinical staff have cared for more than 12,000 patients and delivered nearly 900 babies. Additional milestones include:

  • Nearly 1,000 surgical procedures performed
  • More than 10,900 ER visits
  • Nearly 2,500 patients admitted
  • More than 150 mammograms performed

In addition to providing patient care, HCA Florida University Hospital provides employment to 680 colleagues and has more than 800 medical staff providers. Future plans for the 330,000-square-foot hospital include adding six additional floors and growing to 600 beds.
