January 6, 2023 – HCA Florida University Hospital, a 165-bed facility, and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, today announces Neva Spencer as the hospital’s new chief nursing officer.
Spencer is currently associate chief nursing officer with HCA Healthcare Continental Division’s Wesley Healthcare.
“Neva brings more than 35 years of professional nursing and leadership experience to University Hospital,” said HCA Florida University Hospital CEO Madeline Nava. “She has extensive experience, specifically in women’s, pediatric and neonatal care. Since opening in November 2021, we’ve treated more than 3,800 pediatric patients in our emergency room and delivered nearly 2,400 babies. Neva’s background and expertise will help bolster our women’s and children’s services.”
In her role, Spencer will provide leadership of direct patient care activities in addition to nursing practice, education, and development across University Hospital.

Spencer earned a doctorate of nursing practice from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Spencer officially joins HCA Florida University Hospital on Monday, January 9, 2023.
