October 1 2021 – To expand access to quality patient care, the C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics plan to relocate three of their nine brick and mortar clinics to more spacious and modern health centers. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded a grant of $1,010,224 this month to fund new medical equipment and furnishings for these sites that are located in medically underserved areas of Palm Beach County.
“We are grateful to HRSA for this generous grant funding,” said Belma Andric, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer for the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, which operates the Brumback Clinics. “The relocations will allow us to serve more patients each day at sites with additional exam rooms and the space to expand future healthcare services.”
Plans are underway to relocate the western Boca Raton clinic to a proposed larger, leased medical office adjacent to West Boca Medical Center. The project includes relocating the Delray Beach clinic to a proposed leased site across the street on Congress Avenue with nearly 3,000 more square feet of space. The Lantana clinic would also be relocated to a proposed leased site over two and a half times larger in Lake Worth near JFK Medical Center.
“Thanks to this grant, our patients will have access to a more efficiently-designed environment,” said Darcy J. Davis, Chief Executive Officer of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County. “It’s important, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, that our patients and staff have additional space to support enhanced patient flow, social distancing and healthy outcomes.”
The relocation projects are expected to take up to 18 months to complete. The grant will cover the cost of such items as medication refrigerators, EKG machines, IT equipment, and patient exam tables to equip the additional space and replace outdated equipment and furniture worn from years of use and repair.
The C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics are Federally Qualified Health Centers that serve as the largest provider of primary care services to low-income residents in Palm Beach County. The Brumback Clinics provide a medical home for over 33,000 adult and pediatric patients who receive care regardless of their ability to pay. Clinic patients include low-income adults and school-aged children, the uninsured, ethnic minorities, migrant and seasonal agricultural workers, and those experiencing homelessness. The Brumback Clinics and its mobile units continue to play a key role in the county’s pandemic response by providing COVID-19 testing and over 220,000 COVID-19 vaccinations for the community.
