It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since the Felix clan was anxiously awaiting the birth of Sophia Ann Felix. But let me tell you — she may have come in “like a lamb”, but she roars like a lion!

With her 1st birthday fast approaching and barely tipping the scales at a diminutive 16 lbs., Sophia runs the show. What show you may ask? In unison, all who know and love her would respond, “Any show.”

It probably started in utero, but we got our first clue when Sophia decided that despite the designer label on her crib, it just wasn’t for her. She much preferred the Serta label on the bed in her parent’s room. And unlike most babies, who eventually give up and reconcile themselves to “crib life,” Sophia decided it was her way or the highway. So needless to say, Carly and Drew are sleeping “triple in a queen-size bed!” (But as Carol always says about babies, “You go with whatever works.”)

And although she crawled at the appropriate age, she’s been threatening to walk for just as long. Hard to believe, someone so tiny can make her way around any room just by negotiating furniture, leaving a trail of Fisher Price Little People in her wake.

But I cannot tell a lie, Sophia does have a problem. Sophia is addicted … to Mickey Mouse! Just put Mickey Mouse on TV, or have her hear the Mickey Mouse Club Hot Dog song and she is automatically glued to the screen. A herd of elephants could make its way through the room and she wouldn’t blink. Here’s hoping when she outgrows Mickey, she’ll look at her Papa Charles with the same devotion. Once again, I’ll probably have to play the “Pony present” card.

They say that little girls are born with the ability to wrap a Daddy or Grandpa around their little finger, well our Sophia has gone one better because she’s now wrapped around our hearts! Happy Birthday Sophia.
