Hialeah Hospital is pleased to announce its 2012 Vivian Hurst Nurse Award winner, Mercedes Amaya, R.N. Amaya has served patients at Hialeah Hospital through her many roles as a nurse and nurse supervisor for over 15 years. Her ability to lead others with the essence of teamwork, and dedication to Hialeah Hospital made Amaya a perfect candidate for the prestigious Hialeah Hospital Vivian Hurst Award and the title of “Nurse of the Year.”
Amaya is currently a nurse supervisor at Hialeah Hospital. This veteran nurse can be best described as being assertive, respectful, reliable, conscientious, detail oriented, and hardworking. Amaya’s ability to work well with her peers, medical staff and patients has earned her the respect of the entire hospital.
