For 70 years, Holy Cross Health has been a pillar in our community, and together with Trinity Health, serves in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence. As we reflect on 2025, we celebrate a year defined by innovation, gratitude and growth, made possible through the generosity of our community.
Leading us into our next chapter is President and CEO Pierre Monice, MBA, FACHE. Since joining Holy Cross Health in May, Pierre has brought a dynamic vision and a deep commitment to our mission. A proud South Florida native, he has been a visible and approachable leader, connecting with patients, families and donors, while championing initiatives that strengthen our community. Under his leadership, Holy Cross is advancing an ambitious ambulatory growth strategy, elevating patient experience and fostering a culture of engagement and collaboration among colleagues. His focus on health equity and innovation ensures that we remain at the forefront of compassionate, high-quality care for all.
This year marked the launch of the Healing Heroes program, providing patients and families with a meaningful way to honor caregivers who have made a lasting impact on their lives. With a philanthropic gift directed to an area of choice, donors not only express gratitude but also advance our mission. Since its introduction, more than 100 caregivers have been recognized.
It has been a year of growth, marked by the opening of new facilities designed to deliver the highest quality care to our communities. Among the most significant milestones was the launch of the Holy Cross Health Family Health Center in Oakland Park, a 15,000-square-foot hub offering comprehensive services for patients of all ages. This center, made possible entirely through philanthropy, provides primary care, annual wellness exams, immunizations, pediatric therapies, medical nutrition, culinary medicine, social services and community education all under one roof. It is the only facility in eastern and northern Broward County to offer pediatric occupational, physical and speech therapy in a single location, along with job-readiness and support programs for adults.
None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our gracious donors, whom we recognized during our annual Evening of Gratitude. In 2025, the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation was presented with the Remarkable Philanthropy Champion Award for its $5 million gift that funded the renovation of the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation Surgical Suites.
Following a generous $2 million gift from Jon and Helaine Ayers that enabled Holy Cross to renovate the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center and purchase state-of-the-art physical rehabilitation equipment to treat neurologic, vestibular, oncologic and complex orthopedic conditions, we celebrated the newly renamed Jon & Helaine Ayers Rehabilitation Center at the main hospital. The unique therapies offered here help patients who are recovering from strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, or are living with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and other complex conditions regain and improve their mobility and balance through physical, occupational and speech therapy.
The Philips Spectral CT 7500, a cutting-edge diagnostic imaging system that delivers high-definition, multi-layered scans for faster and more precise diagnoses, is now available to patients at the newly named Wanda & Jim Moran, Jr. Emergency Department (ED). A transformational $6.5 million gift, one of the single largest donations in the hospital’s 70-year history, from philanthropists Wanda and Jim Moran, Jr. and the Wanda & Jim Moran Foundation, enabled advancements to the ED and purchase the scanner. Combined with previous contributions to Holy Cross, the couple’s support totals $8 million.
We were also blessed to receive another of its single largest planned gifts in our 70-year history. Philanthropists and grateful patients, Charles “Chuck” and Jacqueline “Jackie” Frasier, named Holy Cross Health in their estate plans, committing nearly $5 million in addition to the couple’s $250,000 multi-year pledge made earlier this year. Both gifts support to heart and vascular care.
Thanks to the 15th Annual Holy Cross Health Golf Classic that raised more than $279,000 and our Women’s Wellness Brunch, which celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex, we are closer than ever to purchasing new state-of-the-art mammography units to serve more women, reduce wait times and provide faster access to life-saving screenings.
