March 23 2021 – For more than 50 years, the Holy Cross Auxiliary has provided financial support to Holy Cross Health through fundraising activities throughout the year.

The Auxiliary made a final donation of $130,000 to Holy Cross Health as the group made the difficult decision to permanently disband. While there was discussion for a dissolution plan in early 2020, the pandemic accelerated the group’s decision to part.

“We want to thank the Holy Cross Auxiliary for their most extraordinary service,” said Scott Ford, Vice President for Development. “The legacy of the Holy Cross Auxiliary will be one that embodied the mission, vision and core values of Holy Cross Health. We were blessed over the years with the most amazing, dedicated group of volunteers, supporters and community members who came together to serve the patients and staff at Holy Cross Health.”

In addition to the $130,000 donation, the Auxiliary donated the contents of the Gift Shop to Holy Cross Health, valued at $25,000.

“This was a thoughtful yet very difficult decision, made all the more challenging by the pandemic,” said Auxiliary President Betty O’Connell. “I appreciate all those who came before me and who worked side by side with me to get things done. I am incredibly thankful to have been involved.”

Over the years, the Auxiliary funded and coordinated the hospital’s annual gala, social luncheons, guest speakers, book sales, bake sales and operated Lorelei’s gift shop, along with the Pink Lady Thrift Store.
