Ethel Rentas, BSN, R.N., CCRN, a nurse at Holy Cross Health, was recognized as the hospital’s Colleague of the Month for February.
Rentas is part of the cardiovascular intensive care unit team, where her responsibilities include the all-important task of ensuring that drip titration is at its optimum. She also communicates complicated problems, challenges and solutions with fellow nurses, physician assistants and physicians. She is known for her excellent bedside manner with patients and their families. She also trains nurses who are new to the unit to bring them up to speed with the intricacies of cardiovascular care.
A graduate of Mercy Hospital College of Nursing in Miami, Rentas has been dedicated to the nursing profession for 12 years. She joined Holy Cross Health six years ago, where she is a member of the Code Blue Committee, which is a team that’s responsible for overseeing and improving the response in emergency situations. Rentas also belongs to the Broward Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).
