Fort Lauderdale resident Carola Hooper has been named Holy Cross Hospital’s 2018-2019 Volunteer of the Year. Hooper first started volunteering at Holy Cross in December 2002 and has served more than 3,452 hours since for the non-profit hospital.
As a surgical information desk volunteer, Hooper serves as a liaison between families waiting for their loved ones in surgery and the nurses working in the hospital’s recovery room.
“Carola lives our core values every day with her selfless service and loyalty,” said Holy Cross Hospital President and CEO Patrick Taylor, M.D. “Kind and supportive, she is a trusted, helping hand for our nurses and a true source of comfort for families in their time of need.”
In addition to volunteering, Hooper has been a Realtor in Fort Lauderdale for more than 25 years and serves as sales manager of the Hooper Realty firm. Originally from Lima, Peru, she established herself as a leader in representing South American clients in Coral Ridge and along the Galt Ocean Mile in the 1970s and 80s.
