November 11, 2022  Ivan Matos Diaz, M.D., joins Miami Neuroscience Institute, a part of Baptist Health, as co-director of cerebrovascular neurology. Dr. Matos specializes in vascular neurology and cerebrovascular neurology, including treatment for strokes and brain hemorrhages. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

“We are pleased Dr. Matos has joined Miami Neuroscience Institute as co-director of cerebrovascular neurology,” said Michael McDermott, M.D., chief medical executive at Miami Neuroscience Institute. “His experience conducting groundbreaking stroke research, coupled with his extensive teaching and training background in neurology, will make him an outstanding addition to our institute.”

Dr. Matos joins Miami Neuroscience Institute from Hennepin Healthcare, where he served as a neurohospitalist, as well as medical director for the Hennepin Healthcare Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Dr. Matos conducted research with the SHINE and ARCADIA clinical trials, and his work has been published in both the International Journal of Stroke and Seminars in Neurology. He is a member of both the American Stroke Association and the American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Matos earned his medical degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in the Dominican Republic. He completed neurology and vascular neurology residencies at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.

He will see patients at 8950 North Kendall Dr., Suite 410W, in Miami.
