James Howell, M.D., M.P.H., professor of public health and chair of the Department of Rural Medicine at NSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM), was appointed to the Florida Department of Health’s Physician Workforce Advisory Council by Ana Viamonte Ros, M.D., M.P.H., who serves as Florida’s surgeon general.
The Physician Workforce Advisory Council’s primary responsibility is to advise the state surgeon general on matters concerning current and projected physician workforce needs. In addition to Howell, several other NSU-COM faculty members were appointed to the state’s Physician Workforce Advisory Council. They are Joanne Drowos, D.O., M.P.H., M.B.A., clinical assistant professor of preventive medicine and adjunct assistant professor of public health; Mark Gabay, D.O., assistant professor of pediatrics; Paul Seltzer, D.O., clinical assistant professor of surgery; and Nicole Sirchio, D.O., M.B.A., clinical assistant professor of family medicine.
