July 9. 2019 – Janet D. Moreland, who was raised and educated in the Glades, has been named Hospital Administrator of Lakeside Medical Center, the 70-bed, acute care facility in Belle Glade.

“I am truly excited about this opportunity,” said Janet D. Moreland, APRN, MSN, LHRM. “I look forward to engaging with the people who live and work in the Glades – the community where I grew up – to share all of the great things we have planned for the coming year.”

Moreland made her home in the Glades area when she was one year old. As a longstanding member of the community, she enjoys mentoring young adults in her community.

“I am delighted that Janet will be leading our teaching hospital into its second decade of providing quality care in the Glades communities,” said Darcy J. Davis, CEO of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, which owns and operates the rural hospital.

“We recognize and appreciate Janet’s impressive hospital and nursing expertise as well as her years of dedication to improving the health of the Glades,” said Brian R. Lohmann, Health Care District Board Chair.

Janet Moreland has more than 35 years of experience in hospital, home health, skilled nursing, community and public health primary care environments and has served as clinical faculty. Before she was named Hospital Administrator in June 2019, Mrs. Moreland served as Lakeside Medical Center’s Director of Nursing, overseeing the leadership and direction of nursing, case management, nurse navigation, and clinical education.  Previously, she served as the hospital’s Director of Quality and Patient Safety.

“Our community is fortunate to have such a well-respected, experienced and caring professional at the helm of our acute-care, teaching hospital in Belle Glade,” said Rev. Robert Rease, Chair of the Lakeside Health Advisory Board.

Moreland has led successful initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of the medical services Lakeside Medical Center provides to its patients. Thanks in large part to her leadership, Lakeside Medical Center was named an “A” rated, top hospital in the nation for patient safety, as recognized by Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grade for the fall of 2018.  The hospital also received the 2018 Florida Hospital Association (FHA) Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) Award for excellence in patient safety.

“We congratulate Janet and are excited to support her leadership as the hospital prepares to mark its tenth anniversary this coming October,” said Karen A. Harris, the Health Care District’s VP of Field Operations.

Before joining Lakeside Medical Center in August 2013, Mrs. Moreland served with the Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County for more than 25 years. She was the Health Center Administrator for the C. L. Brumback Health Center in Belle Glade where she oversaw daily operations. Other positions she held during her tenure with the Health Department include senior community health nurse, community health nursing supervisor, senior community health nursing supervisor and ARNP coordinator.

Mrs. Moreland received her Master of Science in Nursing Education and Master of Science in Nursing at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida and is licensed as a Health Care Risk Manager.

“I have an open door policy for staff and our community,” Moreland said. “Over the next year I will be looking at new services that could benefit our patients and focusing on the high quality care we provide at Lakeside Medical Center.”
