May 24, 2019 – Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation recently hosted an ‘80s-themed fundraiser,  “Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Casino Night,” that featured $10,000 in cash and prizes, a slot tournament, unlimited buffet, open bar, live music, and auctions. The event at Calder Casino was attended by nearly 300 people and raised more than $60,000.

Proceeds will fund an MRI CinemaVision system at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The 3D virtual reality experience has multiple entertainment, communication, and noise reduction options that help transform what can be a scary experience for kids into something fun.

‘Casino Night’ was hosted by the IMPACT Ambassadors, a group created by Memorial Healthcare System to engage and bring together the next generation of physicians, community leaders, and young professionals interested in philanthropy, networking, and investing in the community.

“We’re thankful our community of volunteers and supporters has made this event such a success,” said Kevin Janser, Memorial Healthcare System senior vice president and chief development officer.

Established in 1994, the nonprofit Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation provides funding to the children’s hospital in support of its mission to heal the body, mind, and spirit of those it touches. Dollars raised by the foundation often underwrite the cost of programs, services, and facilities that help JDCH provide safe, quality, cost-effective, patient and family-centered care. The ultimate goal of the foundation (www.jdchfoundation.org) is to improve the health of the community it serves.

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital has 226 licensed beds, seven operating rooms, and an entire floor dedicated to pediatric oncology. The stand-alone facility combines advanced technology, the expertise of some of South Florida’s most diverse board-certified pediatric specialists, and a patient and family-centered focus.
