February 10, 2023 – Board-certified Jessica McCarrick, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. McCarrick specializes in medical and surgical dermatology and dermatology for people of color. She speaks conversational Spanish in addition to English.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. McCarrick to Miami Cancer Institute,” said Leonard Kalman, M.D., executive deputy director and chief medical officer at Miami Cancer Institute. “She provides sensitive, culturally appropriate care, which is an important benefit for our patients in the Miami area.”

Before joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. McCarrick cared for veterans in a three-state area, working out of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware. She also developed a dermatology department at a small Delaware hospital, providing care in an area experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers.

Dr. McCarrick has participated in broad ethnic dermatology research and studies on skin cancer in people of color. She has presented her important research more than 10 times to the Washington, D.C., Dermatological Society. The American Academy of Dermatology has published her work along with other publications.

“Providing personalized care to each patient is important to me,” said Dr. McCarrick. “As a dermatologist, I am humbled and honored to help people distressed by their skin conditions and to diagnose skin cancers they are unaware of.”

Dr. McCarrick earned her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She also served as a chief resident during her dermatology residency at Howard University Hospital.

She will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute, 8900 North Kendall Dr., Miami, FL 33176.
