Dr. Tarah Popp utilizes fellowship training from two academic medical centers in her role as a pediatric imaging specialist, but says those lessons aren’t the only ones that made her a better doctor. “Becoming a mom helped me understand things more from the family’s perspective,” said Popp, a mother of two. “It helped me develop extra compassion and the patience to always go the extra mile for those in my care.”
The treatment of pregnant moms is a particular passion for Dr. Popp. Her expertise in fetal echocardiography enables her to make non-invasive diagnoses of pediatric heart issues that range from simple to complex heart lesions. Additionally, Dr. Popp reads transthoracic echocardiograms and performs transesophageal echocardiograms to help guide the work of cardiovascular surgeons and interventionalists. She also follows children in clinic with a variety of congenital and acquired heart defects.
Dr. Popp attended medical school in Germany, graduating in 2011, and has been part of the Memorial Healthcare System for nearly five years.
