A radical reinvention of traditional nursing homes was recently unveiled in Pompano Beach. The innovative GREEN HOUSE® Project will provide residents better, safer and more personalized care resulting in research-supported healthier and happier elders who also remain independent longer, according to a PubMed.org report.
Plans for the first-of-its-kind skilled nursing care center in Florida were revealed at John Knox Village (JKV) in a series of educational and celebratory events.
The seven-story $34-plus million project will total 144 private rooms for its elders, along with extensive renovations to the current Health Center. Six of the GREEN HOUSE® Project floors are designed for residential living. Each of the residential floors will have two “homes,” and each home has 12 private bedrooms and bathrooms surrounding a hearth-living room, and open kitchen and dining areas. The ground floor features a community area complete with a multi-purpose room, dining bistro and rehabilitation center.
