Acclaimed surgeon brings extensive thoracic surgical experience and expertise to South Florida
 
Boca Raton Regional Hospital today announced the appointment of John Roberts, MD, MBA, to the medical staff of the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and BocaCare® Physician Network at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Roberts is a board-certified thoracic surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including thoracoscopy, robotic surgery and other surgical treatments of lung and esophageal cancers.
 
Dr. Roberts earned his medical degree with honors from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and earned his masters of business (MBA) at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. His postgraduate training included an internship and residency program in surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as chief resident in surgery and completed an oncology and trauma fellowship. Dr. Roberts went on to complete an additional residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, affiliate of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
Dr. Roberts served as the Chief of General Thoracic Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine followed by various clinical appointments at Centennial Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Tennessee. He also held faculty appointments as Instructor in Surgery at The John Hopkins Hospital and as Assistant Professor of Surgery at both the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Dr. Roberts is certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and The Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Roberts has been selected by his peers to the “Best Doctors in America” from 2003 – 2018 and is a reviewer of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and CHEST® Journal.
