October 20, 2021 – Board-certified primary care physician Jose Vazquez, M.D., has been named chief of primary care at Baptist Health Medical Group, part of Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Vazquez specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of health issues, including hypertension, diabetes and respiratory conditions. He is fluent in English and Spanish and board-certified in internal medicine.

Prior to joining Baptist Health in 2016, Dr. Vazquez served as the chief of the internal medicine division at South Florida Multispecialty Associates and an associate attending physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Vazquez has been honored with numerous awards, including the Resident Teacher of the Year Award in 1993, the American College of Physicians’ Community-Based Teacher of the Year Award in 2000, and the Attending of the Year Award in 2003.  He is an active member of the American College of Physicians and has lectured on such topics as lung disease and marine poisons and prevention.

Dr. Vazquez earned his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, an affiliate of Yale University School of Medicine.
